About Us
Every once in awhile we like to introduced ourselves and our farm to our new readers. And for our old readers we have some great new to you photos to share on the blog today.

If you know Peggy, you know she is a fabulous cook. She became a trained chef in Paris during the time she lived there with her young family. Here she is in front of her home in Paris and with her husband and children there.

After their time in France, the Nelson family moved to Park City where Mike designed them this beautiful home over looking a golf course.
After their children were all grown, Mike and Peggy Nelson decided to settled down in beautiful Cache Valley Utah. They live on a 6 acre farm nestled at the mouth of the Millville Canyon. They have over 80 apple trees in their orchard, many of which are vintage varieties, along with over 1000 Lavender plants across 2 fields. Hence their farm's name, "The Lavender Apple."

But this farm is not new to the Nelson family. John and Hanna Nelson immigrated from Sweden in the early 1900's and purchased a large plot of land at the mouth of a beautiful canyon in Cache Valley.  The property has remained in the family for 3 generations.  This farm and the story of John and Hanna Nelson served as inspiration for Mike and Peggy to begin their small apple and lavender farm once affectionately know as the “rocky patch.”

Hope you enjoyed learning a little more about the Nelson family and what led them to this beautiful adventure here at The Lavender Apple.

City of Lights, Crepes, and Great Chefs
Sometimes when I look around the Lavender Apple farm, I see little touches of Europe here or there. The Nelsons lived in Paris for several years and traveled all over Europe during that time. There are antique treasures from that time that all have managed to make their way back to the Lavender Apple Farm. Mike is a wonderful photographer, and while I wasn't there with them to join their explorations of all things European, his photography of their adventures sure is fun to look at.

The best thing all of us have gained out of their time in Paris was Peggy's culinary prowess. She is a culinary wizard in the kitchen thanks to her training in the city of the master chefs. I doubt the Lavender Apple would even exist if it wasn't for the time the Nelsons spent in The City of Lights. Thank you Paris. I owe you.
